Raghunath Das

 17 Dec 1946 – 27 Sept 2021

Raghunath das had been constantly hearing Srila Prabhupada chant the Hare Krsna mantra in the days leading up to his passing. For the previous 2 years had gradually increased his absorption in the chanting of the holy names.

About

He was born in Philadelphia, USA in 1946 and joined the temple there when he was 27 years old, in 1973. He was initiated by Srila Prabhupada.

In 1989 he came to England and gave classes at Soho Street temple that captivated all. He was often seen leading Harinams up and down Oxford Street in London. Later he moved close to Bhaktivedanta Manor where he continued his service.
Many members of the Indian community there expressed their gratitude for his honest expression of both his own spiritual journey and presentation of Krsna consciousness, which inspired them to increase their engagement at the temple. As mentioned before, he could always be found sharing Krsna Katha with anyone who was willing to listen.

Raghunath das had been constantly hearing Srila Prabhupada chant the Hare Krsna mantra in the days leading up to his passing, and for the previous 2 years had gradually increased his absorption in the chanting of the holy names.
He had always loved sharing Krsna Katha in classes and individually, many people were grateful for his guidance and contributions.

After his passing, hundreds of grateful devotees and friends sent beautiful messages of gratitude and appreciation for who he was and what he contributed. His cremation service was attended by many devotees and was a joyful experience remembering his humour, depth and his eccentricity which was not understood by all. We pray for the blessings of Srila Prabhupada and the Guru Parampara for his onward spiritual journey.
